TFN & EY Foundation

November 2018

We came together in November at our first live crowdfunding event in partnership with EY Foundation. We raised a total of £6,000 for three innovative projects that impacted the lives of many individuals.

First to pitch was Salford Red Devils Foundation - they delivered a pilot project called Rugby Reminiscence designed to engage recently diagnosed dementia sufferers and their carers

They raised over £1,500 to go towards Rugby Reminiscence, which uses sport to engage people that might otherwise not access support

Participants and families gained a sense of belonging, and learned coping strategies that encourage self sufficiency

Next to pitch was Renaissance Foundation, which supports young people affected by illness through inspirational days out, workshops and meetings with role models

They raised over £2,300 for three special events which included a trip to Silverstone and meeting Lewis Hamilton, a trip to the BBC Radio One Extra studios, and a visit to Wimbledon Tennis Club

Through these sessions they developed their employment and personal skills - one young person said, "it left me feeling motivated and excited"

Our final pitch came from Bottles of Hope, which provides renewable solar lights made from recycled plastic bottles to low income families in India

They raised over £2,000 towards the distribution of solar Panels in the Nilgris Hills, India and also provided training and employment for disabled people, impacting over 500 people

The solar lamps have replaced kerosene lamps and paraffin candles which are harmful and give off dangerous toxins

Thank you to everyone who came and supported these wonderful non- profits.
