TFN Herts

September 2018

We were delighted to come together in September 2018 for our annual event in Hertfordshire, where we raised over £11,000 in support of three local charities tackling pressing social issues

The first pitch was from Earthworks St Albans, which offers valuable training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities

A total of £4,152 was raised on the night for Earthworks to help launch their brilliant pilot project Earthworks on Wheels, and they have also initiated a partnership project with one of the other charities they met at the event

Earthworkers self-esteem, confidence and gardening skills have improved since participating in Earthworks on Wheels

The next pitch was from HACRO, which aims to reduce reoffending by supporting offenders and their families through education, training and mentoring

Together we raised £3,298 towards their Caring Dads project - a 17-week parenting course for perpetrators that uses cognitive behaviour therapy to enable fathers to repair damage caused to their families

16 dads registered to take part in the Caring Dads scheme, and with 11 fathers completing the course they exceeded their usual attrition rate

The last pitch came from Small Acts of Kindness, which sources and distributes gift bags containing essential keep-warm items to older people who struggle to keep warm in their homes

Since pitching, they were able to source and provide 300 more Warm in Winter gift bags to older people - these bags include a blanket, thermal hat, gloves, socks and leg warmers, a mug, hot drinks and information about services available in the local area

One recipient said:
“Thank you for your kind gift, the blanket hat and gloves are excellent and extremely warm. As heating is so expensive they are appreciated. Thank you.”

A huge thank you to everyone who came to support these three wonderful charities

Your support has made so many ideas a possibility for their communities
